“Across My Homeland” Educational Program

Recently, more and more attention has been paid to the regional aspect in school practice. It is very important today to revive a sense of true patriotism in our society, it should once again become the most important spiritual, moral and social value, and form active socially significant qualities in a child. Since one of the sources of enriching students with knowledge about their native land, fostering love for it and forming civic concepts and skills is local history classes at school, it is very important to have them.

The concept of homeland for a person is associated with the place where they were born and grew up. The "Across My Homeland" program is designed to help expand children's knowledge of their native land, see it in the General course of history, and feel their connection with the past and present of the country. The content of the program is based on the history of the village of Urman-Bishkadak in the Ishimbay district of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The programme is aimed at studying the history of their ancestors, the history of the village foundation.

The "Across My homeland" can be used, if modified, when studying the history of other villages in the Ishimbay district.

Goal of the program:

Education of a citizen of Russia, a patriot of their homeland, who know and love their land, who want to preserve it and take an active part in its development; creating conditions for the comprehensive development of the individual.

Objectives of the program:
Educational:
  1. Formation of ideas about different aspects of life of the region and the population.
  2. Introduction to the history and modern life of the village of Urman-Bishkadak Mr Ishimbay district of the Republic of Belarus. Mastering the basics of folk culture and everyday life.
Upbringing:
  1. Development of civic qualities, Patriotic attitude to Russia and its region, formation of personal and value attitude to their native land, awakening of active love for their native place of residence.
  2. Forming a sense of tolerance and tolerant behavior.
  3. Promotion of family ties: interest in the content of the subject not only for children, but also for parents; rich opportunities for studying the history of the region through family archives, stories of parents, grandparents, and other relatives; studying the life of the region In the family through conversations, joint reading of local history literature.
  4. Formation of an ecological culture, the ability to independently assess the level of environmental safety as a living environment.
  5. Education of skills of positive and saving attitude to the environment and socially responsible behavior in it.
  6. Fostering hard work, a sense of teamwork and mutual assistance.
  7. Creating an environment of goodwill and psychological comfort in the children's team, meeting the needs of children in communication.
Developmental:
  1. Development of cognitive interests, intellectual and creative abilities, stimulating the desire to know as much as possible about the native land, students ' interest in local history. Development of communication skills, design of creative works through the development of the excursion route "Mountain covered with legends", excursions "In my small Homeland".
  2. Formation of the ability and readiness to use local knowledge and skills in everyday life; vision of their place in solving local problems today and the issues that will face them in the future.
  3. Development of emotional-volitional, moral qualities of the individual, cognitive interests, intellectual and Creative abilities.
  4. Orientation in solving issues of further education, choice of profession and place of work.
Age of children

The local history program is designed for teenagers.

Timeline of the programme

The program is designed for 2 years of study: 1 year – 144 hours, 2 year – 144 hours, total – 288 hours.

Class Mode

For students of the 1st and 2nd year of study, classes are held 2 times a week for 2 academic hours.

Form of studies  

Group, individual.

Methods 

Teacher's story and children's stories, study of Museum materials, thematic tasks, contests, quizzes, discussions, mini-essays, exhibitions, meetings with WWII veterans and interesting people, trips to their native land, excursions, protection of creative works, making Power Point presentations.
