The Heart of Bashkiria Tourism and recreation cluster project was selected among 16 others in the final of the all-Russian competition for the creation of a shopping Mall and the development of ecotourism by the Agency for strategic initiatives. The results were announced live today, October 16. 10 projects were in the finals, 6 projects won in the nomination "Territory of perspective development" and 1 project — the people’s choice prize.
Winning this competition is important not only because the Republic can get Federal funding for basic infrastructure solutions and roads, but also because the project involves creating a territory management system that takes into account the interests of both the local population and the development of ecotourism. This is a chance to showcase the potential of a huge territory throughout the country and attract investment to improve infrastructure, open new hotels and cafes and provide jobs for the rural population.

It should be noted that the tourist and recreational cluster is distinguished by a rich natural and cultural heritage, year-round infrastructure, many objects of local, Russian and international significance, abysses, fishing, caving, extreme sports, and skiing. The cluster already has power lines, communications and a gas pipeline. the project team intends to update and reconstruct roads, as well as build an extreme Park."
